Goldiggers, which originally occupied the former Gaumont Cinema at the other end of Timber Street, moved into The Railway Inn. The Railway was renovated, and is now flats, half-full of muggers, and run by Sarsen Housing. The former 'Diggers building has been demolished and a similar structure (from streetside) housing retirement flats and shops has been built in it's place.
Chippenham Bus Station is immediately here.
Buses regularly run to bath, Bristol, Swindon and Trowbridge.
Some come back too. There is a taxi rank just in front of The Bear,
and the library just to the side is where The Old Bear was.
Why it was called "Old" before the current one was built
in 1750AD was not exceptional foresight,
but to distinguish it from a third, rival Bear, now lost in the mists
of history.

An institution of the town, continuously refurbished and now
moved into by another town institution, Goldiggers Nightclub,
bankrupt and living in the saloon bar.
Good, and slightly odd, atmosphere, alcoholic and other drinks,
bar snacks, food, and worrying conversation served regularly.
